Summer is supposed to be a slow time of year for blogs. And personal blog useage is supposed to be down generally anyway compared to social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
So I get this heads-up from Robert of the Northwest Baha’i Library. I repost content he suggests as this post: On the Baha’i 9-Pointed Star Displayed at Jackson Memorial: 1.5 billion viewers. And then…
I hadn’t checked my Sitemeter counts in days. When I did, I was in for a big surprise. My daily numbers for the week were close to three times what I expected them to be. Why? Because of that one post.
Traffic is always welcome to a blog, first-time visitors especially appreciated. I know from the Sitemeter records that many of those 1426 visitors whose page of entry was the MJ post went on to explore other content on Baha’i Views or, via side-bar links, to Baha’i content elsewhere. For that thank you, Michael.
There is a blogger-lesson in all this for me. It’s important not to ignore the major news events of the day.
I did a Google Blog Search for “Michael Jackson Baha’i.” (He is not a Baha’i, of course; I’m only juxtaposing keywords.) Here are Baha’is who posted something on MJ such that they show up as a result in this search.
