On Baha’i Rights Day, 22 Freedoms, 21 Rights and 8 Responsibilities of Individuals: What are, therefore, the responsibilities of government?

In a broader response to Iran Rights Day, Wendi’s blog post today identifies 22 freedoms, 21 rights, and  8 responsibilities of  individuals. Here are a few from her list, some of which may surprise you. What are the rest?

Freedoms

• Freedom to have and express one’s own opinion
• Freedom to criticise
• Freedom of movement
• Freedom to bequeath ones property as one wishes

Rights of the Individual

• Right of the family to maintain itself under conditions favourable to body, mind and spirit
• Right to a social order
• Right to be recognized as a person before the law
• Right to a living
• Right to help others

Responsibilities of individuals

• To develop a personal commitment to building a broader sense of community
• To promote the well-being, and respect for the rights, freedoms, identity and human dignity of others
• To obey the law
• To educate children
