Getting married in Pennsylvania? Some folks already have! But if the big event is still ahead of you, you may find an article in the Philadelphia Enquirer helpful. Among the items covered were the following. -gw
Timing is everything
In parts of Asia, couples consult the calendar for a fortuitous wedding date. In Pennsylvania, be mindful of the three-day waiting period between when you apply and when you can actually marry. That’s three business days. And the license is valid for only 60 days, so don’t apply too soon.
Cash up front
Like towing companies, county offices accept cash or money order only. License fees range from $45 to $90 in Chester, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia Counties.
Don’t go alone Both parties must be present to apply for the marriage license. Widows or widowers, bring a certified copy of the death certificate; divorcees must show a certified divorce decree.
No officiant?
No problem. Any couple may marry themselves in front of two witnesses – without an officiant. Ask for a self-uniting license. Members of Baha’i and Quaker communities also use self-uniting licenses.
Like everything else about Twitter, biographical information provided is usually short and sweet. Here is a sampling of bios of Baha’is on Twitter. -gw
BioI am a Scotsman living in the US. I am married to Juliet, and we are both members of the Bahai Faith. I am also a history enthusiast – see my current blog
What I get out of looking at all these is that Baha’is appear to be a very diverse group, including young and old, professional body piercers to Marine Vets. Baha’u'llah … and Twitter… bring together all these souls. -gw

Here are recent posts on Mason Remey, whose name still occasionally pops up in coverage about the Baha’i Faith, that are drawn from two incredibly well-researched personal blogs devoted to study of the Baha’i Covenant. -gw
Mason Remey and his followers made — and still make today –”violent attacks on the Hands, their decisions, and their right to carry on the beloved Guardian’s Crusade.” The folly of their position is obvious to everyone but themselves: They condemn the acts and decisions in which Mason Remey had himself participated.
That reasonably intelligent men and women should be unable—after the passage of almost half a century—to free themselves from the relentless undertow of folly and ambition that has drowned every hope and scheme they ever cherished is a cautionary tale indeed. The fate of those who followed Charles Mason Remey is a case study in the nature and paralyzing effect of the virus of Covenant-breaking.
Talked with Markal today. Couldn’t come to devotions tonight, because the blues band he is in is doing some recording. Talked to Rocky, who is recovering from dialysis today. Glad to hear that Karen goes over to his home on on Thursdays to study with him. He said he’d try to come to devotions next Thursday.
Bonita, Walter and I held down the fort tonight. Bonita just barely though, because again she overdid it in the garden preparing the soil for beans and planting corn. She viewed Walter’s paintings tonight from a reclining position. She took in the prayers lying down, too. -gw

It is perhaps not surprising that an enthusiast for Open Space Technology, or OST, should eagerly paraphrase Baha’u'llah. -gw
In the Baha’i faith, the founder said that the sign of the maturity of mankind was when no one wanted to bear the burden of kingship. When we realize that the universe is self-organizing is perhaps the only point where a leader can truly be a leader. Just as Jesus taught that those who would be first among us would serve everyone else, and as he sacrificed his life to promote that message, maybe that’s the real lesson of being a good leader – learning to follow spirit.
Eric Harper is in our area performing house concerts. He is phenomenal, I hear. Plays flamenco rock and other styles. -gw

About Eric Harper
Ok, so here’s the deal: I’m a musician. Simple. But I suppose what makes me complex is that I’m a chameleon. My job; to create any style of music when asked. I’ve created Bossa Nova, Chinese Pop, Afro-Pop, Fado, Morno, Salsa, Rock, Flamenco, Jazz, and so on. I’m not going to be the guy who only has one style. So all those former notions of musicians that you loved so dearly back in the 70s, 80s, 90s and what not, that only had one style, well, that’s just not me. What I do promise you though, is to always bring you integrity, quality and a high standard of music as best as I know how. I hope you enjoy my process as much as I will enjoy getting to know you.
I’m mummy to a super adorable & cheeky 3-year-old Tristan & 4-month old Trevor. I Work from home (WAHM), I’m a blogger, a Breastfeeding Counsellor, Yoga Instructor & a volunteer Baha’i Children Class Teacher
