On a Baha’i Conference Collage: Part 30 of 41

untitled5Here’s my thought. Even if you’re not religious. Even if you would rather attend a pub-crawl than serve your community. You cannot deny that this is impressive. We are in the midst of civil and international wars, famine, disease, natural disasters, poverty of endemic proportions and yet with all these destructive forces crumbling the very fabric of civilization, there is still hope. There is a community representing virtually every corner of the planet. Working scientifically, methodically, systematically, unified in vision and driven by love. These are the Baha’is. I love them. I cherish them. Please, explore what they are doing. http://emadtalisman.wordpress.com/2008/11/26/regional-bahai-conferences-doing-the-unthinkable/

In about three weeks from now, on the weekend of the 7th February, one of the 41 regional conferences will take place in Frankfurt am Main and I’m one of the participants! The biggest number of Baha’is I’ve ever seen on one place was about 250 at Changing Times. Now it’s gonna be 2500! I can’t even imagine that amount of people. http://barabora.wordpress.com/2009/01/20/frankfurt-in-three-weeks/

“Even or odd, thou shalt win the wager.” The friends of God shall win and profit under all conditions, and shall attain true wealth. In fire they remain cold, and from water they emerge dry. Their affairs are at variance with the affairs of men. Gain is their lot, whatever the deal. To this testifieth every wise one with a discerning eye, and every fair-minded one with a hearing ear. painting_17_2it felt as though we have been working so hard in the trenches in a battle for years now, and this little conference was like being brought into a meeting of the generals and commanders and we got to see the big picture for a second. To see the whole layout of folks all over the country working together for a common goal. http://mammacomic.blogspot.com/2009/01/home-from-conference.html

photo-lae-06The final attendance figure was just over 1,500 people, about three times the initial expectation and the largest assemblage of Baha’is ever to gather in Papua New Guinea. The gathering overflowed the 700-seat auditorium at the University of Technology, an institution which helped out by purchasing large-screen monitors for viewing the proceedings from the foyer and a grassy area outdoors.
