On Race and Religion, Part 2: Baha’is are talking about the election

There are a lot of literate posts and rigorous forum discussions involving Baha’is to be found online now reflecting on the meaning of the Obama election.-gw  

…the whole truth, we all know, is that one election does not solve every challenge of race in America. Barack Obama himself acknowledged in his March 18th speech on race “the complexities of race in this country that we’ve never really worked through.” Racial prejudice is identified by The Baha’i Faith as America’s “most vital and challenging issue.”

That Barack Obama turns for inspiration to his favorite president, Abraham Lincoln, brings to mind the dialogue between President Lincoln and Frederick Douglass that I wrote about in The Story of Baha’u'llah – a dialogue that changed both men and perhaps affected the course of our American nation.
