On a Question for the Candidates: What is your position on the United Nations?

Phil, a Baha’i in Kansas, does a weekly column and has a blog. He has a question for the candidates. -gw

A few weeks ago, someone asked me if I would be interested in joining a political party. My answer was, “I avoid politics like it was the plague.” I went on to explain that I meant partisan politics as it is presently practiced. I try to keep informed of the issues, learn about the candidates, and I always vote. …

On the national level, I try to keep informed of the presidential candidates’ positions on the issues. I have been examining the Web sites of each candidate. I wanted to know the position of each on the United Nations. Both sites have search engines; neither came up with any information about the candidates’ positions on the U.N. Both sites have a way to contact the campaign office. I sent e-mails to both, requesting information. Both sites have a disclaimer indicating that questions may not be answered.
