On the Election of the Apex of the Baha’i Adminstrative Order: A model for purified polity

The Guardian said that the Universal House of Justice “must be regarded as the apex of the Baha’i Administrative Order,” (God Passes By, 332). But it is more than just the leadership of a world religion. It presents something new under the sun, a model for purified polity unheard of in the history of the world. Because of our small numbers, the press does not give the Baha’i Faith or the House of Justice the same attention that it gives the Dalai Lama or the Pope. But that will surely change.

I love John’s post regarding the election of the Universal House of Justice. -gw

Certain it is that these almost sixteen-hundred electors are not embroiled in calculating tactics, in manipulation, juggling names or complex power plays. Only silent prayer and reflection. Pomp, display, even oblique mention of personalities — gossip is a sin at the worst of times for Baha’is — is, whatever the subject of their deliberations, far from the tongues of the participants at that convention.

One thing that most people talks about, George, is that, with no campaigns how do the delegates know in who to vote…
    That’s maybe the hardest thing!
I am anxious about the result of today’s votings…

PS: can’t you guys find a way for the commenters to keep updated with other comments to the same post? Just like what happens with blogspot or some wordpress blogs?

Baha’is have an obligation to be informed as to the day-to-day efforts of the Friends within the community, it seems to me. Whether it is in a local Assembly election, a district convention, an election for the Regional Baha’i Council, National Assembly, or the Universal House of Justice, one needs to already be informed going into such an election, such that, with prayer, we are guided to make the right choices. We need to do our homework, in other words.

Regarding comment update, how about if I give personalized service, SAM, until I figure out if and how to do it?

    A good answer!

About the second part, thank you and don’t worry! :)

I’ll do my best to keep in track, but, really, there must be a way to make things more practical for all of us…
